Curriculum
Curriculum is best defined as all the experiences children have under the guidance of teachers and /or the school. The curriculum of DWPS adheres to the National Curriculum Framework 2005 (NCF 2005) and the CBSE Curriculum. The Foundation believes that classroom experiences of children are to be organized in a manner that permit them to acquaint deeper learning skills, thus helping conceptual understanding, life skills and attitude. With Experiential Learning as guiding principles, DWPS allows each child to realize the inner strength and acts as a platform to hone their originality by engaging them in the self-reflection which is necessary to continue learning throughout their lives.
Therefore, every resource is child-centric and assures successful result in achieving lifelong learning and academic goals.
Early Years Little Angels – Early Years Foundation Stage
Every step in Education is important but it has been scientifically proven that the Pre-School years are the most vital as they lay the foundations for future learning and success. Throughout the year the child experiences plenty of opportunities for ‘hands on’ activities. The year 3+ programme opens the door to play, learn and explore. We impart knowledge through play and creative activity wherein the three year old learns to explore and develop good learning habits and positive esteem. With the Early Years Foundation Curriculum we are able to achieve the important learning milestones like how to share and cooperate, to work together and take turns, to participate in group activities and follow simple directions and to communicate wants and needs. The well-equipped activity room provides a stimulating environment for children and aids spontaneous learning. It provides them a real-time learning. We also have an all-weather splash pool and rain shower facility for our tiny tots to have fun with water and take their first steps towards swimming. The main focus is given on development of multiple skills in children through a Language Lab, Skating arena, fun filled toy room and an Amphitheatre to showcase their talents individually and in groups as well.
Pre Primary – Thematic Learning In KG (year 4+) programme, the child is introduced to the main four subjects with a theme based approach. With Thematic curricular the child learns joyfully and effectively. The ideal Themes give flexibility to the teacher in a multi-grade classroom situation. This helps the learners acquire a taste for lifelong learning. The simplified structure is so supportive for the interlinked subjects and enable the learning take place naturally by involving students’ participation like problem solving, thinking, reasoning, peer learning, group-discussing activities that cater to the needs of 21st century skills. Circle Time, guided activities, outdoor play enable the young learners make their strides bigger. Thus, the ‘Thematic Learning’ approach has produced outstanding result, inspiring the young learners to be a versatile readers, innovators and explorers.
Methodology
Our methodology is best defined in three words: Play, Learn and Explore. With child-centered programme that focuses on the holistic development, our well-trained and experienced team of faculties incorporate innovative teaching techniques. Children are engaged in many creative activities based on a stimulating play environment for cognitive, intellectual, emotional, language, physical and social development of the children. Play in the early years like Dough play, sand play, water play, legos, water colours, puzzles, puppets, play kits, literacy games, interactive book reading strategies, field trips, school visits and scaffolding help to promote the 7 R’s i.e. reading, writing, arithmetic, responsibilities, rights, relationships and recreation. These also enable the children to explore and make sense of the world around them, as well as to use and develop their imagination and creativity. These are the core aspects our Pre School quality.
EXAMINATION PROCESS
The school conducts assessments as key components at all level. Conducting assessment is an integral part of DWPS Education. Like an engine it drives the students’ learning. These assessments are conducted in a regular interval and help the teachers influence the nature and direction of teaching and learning in real time.
Pre-School & Pre Primary
In Pre School & Pre Primary, we follow an informal examination system, wherein the little ones are involved in oral, visual and active techniques to assess their prior knowledge, monitor progress or provide feedback. The dedicated staff use formative assessments to check the cognitive, social-emotional and physical development of their students throughout the year. It acts as observational learning. Worksheets are taken on a regular basis and parents are provided feedback to support the child’s learning.
Playful Learning makes Joyful learning
DWPS believes in the unlimited potential of children can be unleashed when they enjoy the freedom of learning in the way they want to; not in the way the teachers or parents want to. Playful learning kindles our children’s natural sense of curiosity with thoughtfully planned learning experiences. These cast a magic in joyful learning experiences and allow the transformation slowly from chrysalis into responsible global citizens, contributing constructively to the world around. Typically, classroom schedule is well structured with circle time, physical activity, learning centres, life-skill activities weave a wonderful routine and self-paced learning.
Coding lab and activity
Sorting is important to help our tiny lots to connect with the world around them through Sorting and categorising shapes that teach them to identify different Shapes like Triangle, Circle and Square. Today the Pre Primary Prep department young learner’s learned about the Shapes Sorting that has build early mathematical skills and actions of grouping like similar shapes together.
