Journey of Lifelong Learning begins…………..
“Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”
Curriculum I Methodology I Evaluation and Assessment I Activities
The activities of primary wing are focused towards continuous improvement of the students to explore their latent talents. The splash pool activity, organic farming, STEM robotics, class presentations, special assemblies and celebrations are myriads of opportunities offered to the students to chisel out their individual personalities. Innovative and creative techniques are adopted in teaching in the Discovery lab, Maths lab and Computer lab to bring out the creative spark in each one of them. Such experiential learning environment builds up the confidence to meet the specific challenges of the global world.
Curriculum
The Primary curriculum aims to provide a broad learning experience and
encourages a rich variety of approaches to teaching and learning that cater to the different needs
of individual students. This being the formative stage, the most impressionable stage of a child’s
life, the little learners are adaptive and observant about every activity happening in their
immediate surrounding. The education system is so designed that it enables the learners to enhance
their personal development, thereby acquiring skill and knowledge for a holistic
personality.
Methodology
“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think”
The urge to improve the student outcomes and to create a greater impact on students’ success is at
the core of the instructional methodology. The effective methodology caters to diverse learners who
make up any classroom with students from culturally and linguistically varied backgrounds. Hence
instructional methods with proper mentoring programs transfer classroom learning into instructional
practices.
A lot of emphasis is laid on integrating technology into teaching and learning to propel students to
develop skills for using those tools to enhance and maximise their in-depth learning. The mentors
teach the students with the help of examples and experiments. Classroom discussions using the
collaborative method end in presentations or demonstrations. The Thematic approach to learning is
adopted for Grade I to make the foundation year in Primary extraordinarily strong.
Evaluation and Assessment
“Your attitude not your aptitude, will determine your altitude’
In the student-centred approach to learning, the teacher’s primary role is to coach and facilitate
students while learning and overall comprehension of material. Student learning is measured through
both formal and informal forms of assessment, including group projects, student portfolios, and
class participation. Teaching and assessment are connected; student learning is continuously
measured during teacher interaction.
Regular assessment of a child’s performance in each subject is taken up and extensive evaluation is
carried out by the teachers. Three cycles of Evaluation Tests are conducted per Term to assess
student understanding, broaden student perspectives, reinforce knowledge and build confidence.
The Primary wing opens its arms to the little learners to foster and develop all aspects of his/her
life – moral, cognitive, emotional, imaginative, aesthetic, social and physical. Inside the
classroom academic excellence is instilled and outside it one finds the pursuit of passion in them.
The children, thus learn to observe, analyse, interpret information. We in DWPSNE believe that this
is the best way to prepare the 21st century learners.
With the seeds of lifelong learning in place, the primary students forge ahead on their adventure –
an adventure of learning that is active hands-on exploration. The children of the primary are
empowered with two proficiencies – sparking the spirit of enquiry, grooming them to become
independent learners- a skill that they will use all through their life.
Activities
Children are exposed to a myriad of activities beyond their classrooms –Learning to code, Organic
Farming, Sports activities, Assemblies, Inter house and Inter school activities, Field trips,
Celebration of festivals and International days to broaden the horizon and expose them to the wide
cultural diversity. These exclusive features depict the positive school ethos and value based
education which makes it distinctive and sets it apart from any other school.
